HOUSTON (AP) - A man arrested as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of an 11-year-old Houston boy had been sought by police the day before after a fight that drew the attention of transit system police officers.

The Houston Chronicle (https://bit.ly/1W4UhYD) reports Metro transit officers had tried to arrest Che Lajuan Calhoun after a Monday fight near Metro rail tracks. They and Houston police chased him on foot but were unable to catch him that day, but Metro spokeswoman Laura Whitley says Calhoun dropped his identification at the scene.

Calhoun was arrested Wednesday on a murder warrant in the Tuesday killing of Josue (hoh-SWAY’) Flores while the boy was walking home from school. Federal marshals arrested the 31-year-old suspect on a street corner in southeast Houston.
