JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Warren County jury has convicted a man for refusing to pay child support.

Attorney General Jim Hood says 46-year-old Dean Walt Andrews Sr. was found guilty Tuesday of one count of felony non-support of a child and immediately taken into custody.

Hood, in a news release Thursday, said it was proven at trial that Andrews willfully refused to pay child support in excess of $23,610 which he was ordered to pay to his minor son.

Circuit Court Judge M. James Chaney Jr. set sentencing for June 3. Andrews faces up to five years behind bars and a $500 fine.

Hood’s office did not know the name of Andrews’ attorney.
