BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after she pleaded guilty to wire fraud and filing a false tax return.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old Amy Fletcher of Derby Line embezzled nearly $290,000 from Derby Line Ambulance from 2009 to 2012. She was office manager for the business, which she operated with her husband. The business served five northern Vermont towns.

Fletcher’s lawyer asked Wednesday for a sentence that did not have jail time.

Fletcher also has to pay back the money.
