MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - A Pike County industrial park has gained an Arkansas trucking company as its first tenant.
On?Friday, Pike County officials announced that Loggins Logistics of Jonesboro,?Arkansas, will open a flatbed trucking terminal in the Gateway Industrial park.
Pike County Economic Development District interim director Jill Busby Gunnell tells The Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/1rqCNJl) that the company plans to start construction immediately.
President Jeff Loggins says his company plans to hire 25 employees, with hopes of expanding to 50. It will base 25 to 50 trucks at the terminal.
Loggins Logistics specializes in transporting lumber, building and steel products.
The county developed the industrial park in 2014, when oil drilling activity in the nearby Tuscaloosa Marine Shale region was high. But lower oil prices have halted drilling activity, hurting demand for space.
