LYSANDER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man who died after a tree fell on him during a logging accident in central New York.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says Scott Freeman was cutting down trees Friday morning in a wooded area behind a home in the town of Lysander when a tree broke free and fell on him.

Police say the 55-year-old Hannibal man died after suffering a traumatic injury. He had been alone at the time.

Sheriff’s investigators have said Freeman was found later in the afternoon by a friend who was coming to check on him.
