CATTARAUGUS INDIAN RESERVATION, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman who fell into a ravine on an Indian reservation in western New York.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call around 4:30 a.m. Sunday that a person had fallen about 100 feet down a ravine along the Cattaraugus Creek on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, 20 miles south of Buffalo.
Officials say deputies and other emergency responders tried to revive the girl, but she was already deceased. The sheriff’s office on Monday identified the victim as Rikki George of the Seneca Nation of Indians.
Deputies say the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
