DENVER (AP) - An investigation is underway after firefighters battling a blaze at a popular bagel shop in Denver found a body in a closet.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/NeMgnD ) firefighters were called to Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen early Monday morning and found the body in an apartment on the building’s second floor. Rosenberg’s operates out of the building’s first floor below the apartment, and investigators say they believe the fire began on the second floor.

Denver Fire spokeswoman Melissa Taylor says it’s unclear if the person died in the fire or before it began. The victim’s name has not been released.

About 40 firefighters responded to the blaze, which caused extensive damage throughout the building.
