HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Managers of the Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park are starting a tree-trimming program that will temporarily close parts of some popular destinations.
Spokeswoman Catherine Bragaw says in a statement that the work begins this month at Fletcher’s Cove, the Carderock Recreation Area, McCoys Ferry Campground and the 15-Mile Creek Campground.
Bragaw says the program is meant to remove hazardous trees and tree limbs.
She says an average of two trees fall each week along the towpath and in campgrounds and picnic areas.
