HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a teenager is under arrest after stealing $200 from a woman who showed up to buy a cellphone he had advertised online.

Nassau County police say when the woman met the suspect in Uniondale on Saturday to purchase the phone he shoved her and fled with her money and the phone.

Later in the day the woman saw the same phone for sale online. They say she arranged to meet the seller in Hempstead to buy the phone and notified police.

When police identified themselves, the suspect fled but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

Police identified him as 17-year-old Jahmani Harleston of Uniondale. They charged him with grand larceny and resisting arrest.

It’s not clear if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
