YORK, Pa. (AP) - A judge who sentenced a Pennsylvania man convicted of first-degree murder to serve a life term called the man a savage and says society can do nothing for him except put him in a cage.

Judge Harry Ness sentenced Jeffrey Reid Jr. on Friday on charges including first-degree murder and robbery in the shooting death of Dashaun Davis. He isn’t eligible for parole.

York County prosecutors say the 29-year-old York man lead a July 2014 crime spree that included several robbery attempts. They say Reid ordered Davis’ killing.

On Friday, Reid said he didn’t do anything.

Defense attorney Korey Leslie says they’re considering appealing.

Two others have pleaded guilty under deals with prosecutors and were sentenced to state prison terms on Friday.
