GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Officials say a man has died after he was involved in a fight outside a Greenville restaurant.

The Greenville County coroner’s office told local media outlets that 66-year-old Paul E. Candler Jr. of Piedmont died Sunday evening at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Officers were called to a fight at a restaurant around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police spokesman Gilberto Franco said the fight started in a parking lot as one person was leaving the restaurant and another was arriving.

The coroner’s office said Candler was hit and fell and hit his head on the pavement.

Police have talked to the other person in the fight. That person’s name has not been released. No charges have been filed.

An autopsy was planned Monday.
