SEATTLE (AP) - A man has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter for allegedly throwing an 87-year-old man off balance and pushing him to the ground in Seattle.

KIRO-TV reports (https://goo.gl/NRgtFY ) that Brandon Graves-Benevides entered the plea in court Monday.

Police say 33-year-old Graves-Benevides pulled on Fed Nesbitt’s shopping cart at a Seattle grocery store on February 29. Police say once Nesbitt was off balance, Graves-Benevides pushed him to the ground.

Officials say the elderly man had hip surgery, spent weeks in rehabilitation and died on April 7 from complications.

Police arrested Graves-Benevides on April 13. Police say he admitted he was the man on a grocery store surveillance video.

Prosecutors say he has an extensive criminal record and is a danger to the public.

Graves-Benevides remains in jail on $2 million bail.
