CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - It’s been a decade since the body of an unidentified young man was found abandoned in a van parked in an interstate rest area in Charleston County. Now officials hope a computer-enhanced picture will help solve the mystery.

Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten tells The Post and Courier of Charleston (https://bit.ly/1rMN0QM) that the body was found in 2006.

Wooten said the Hispanic male appeared to be in his late teens or early 20s and died of natural causes. He had no ID and was carrying only a few Mexican pesos and a small religious statue. The van had no plates and the owner was never found.

Authorities think the man was traveling with people who were in the country illegally and who panicked and fled, leaving his body behind.
