What was supposed to be a day of peaceful protests, where the progressive, Democratic socialists and union leaders all gathered together to demand better working conditions around the world, turned suddenly violent.

Protesters lit fireworks, and threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at police, the Seattle Police reported Sunday. By day’s end, nine people were arrested and five officers were injured.

One officer was bitten, another sustained a facial laceration, and yet another was hit by the cocktail but was able to put the fire out.

The professional agitators were wearing all black, and wore masks and sunglasses, the Seattle police said. Some of the Molotov cocktails were made from Heineken beer bottles, pictures show — a favorite among the hipster crowd.

In all the news clips reporting Sunday’s incident, none explain why the rioting happened, other than every May 1, Seattle has these disruptions — and well, that’s something the liberals living in the city have grown to expect.

For May 1 was declared “International Workers’ Day” by the International Socialist Conference, following the violent protests in Chicago’s Haymarket Square in 1886. So basically, if you’re of the socialist, liberal persuasion, every May 1 is an excuse for rioting.

“There were gatherings in Los Angeles, Paris, Istanbul, Moscow, Manila and London on Sunday, some of which were also marred by violence,” CNN casually reported and declined to further detail, as if following the rule of law in these countries on this day was somehow less important than these protesters being free to run the streets.

We see this a lot in liberal philosophy — that the right to disrupt, agitate, or even riot to get your political point across is more important than your obligation as a citizen to follow the rule of law. There’s even an honor about it.

Remember Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, commenting — as her city was burning down from race rioting — that she “gave those who wished to destroy space,” the opportunity to do so? That she had to weigh the rights and demands of the rioters with those who were getting their storefronts and homes destroyed.

“I’ve made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” Ms. Rawlings-Blake said. “It’s a very delicate balancing act because while we try to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well, and we work very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to de-escalate.”

De-escalate. The “keeping of a balance.” Rule of law be damned.

That brings me to Donald Trump’s rallies.

The media and the Left love to portray Mr. Trump’s protesters as noble — as standing up to his bigoted talk and racial divisiveness. There’s also a false narrative out there, that if Mr. Trump were to stop saying the things he says —these protesters would walk away. That they’re largely peaceful and unorganized.

But, that’s not all true.

In California, Mr. Trump was targeted by Black Lives Matter activists, who were responsible for helping to spark violence in Ferguson and Baltimore. He’s also was a target of Code Pink — a radical women’s rights group, who as a history of causing professional disruptions on Capitol Hill.

Protesters of “Free the Nipple” also tried to shut down Mr. Trump’s Orange County rally, eyewitnesses say. This is a group of women who believe they should be allowed to go topless as to desexualize a women’s breasts with those of a man. We’re talking some left-wing crazy stuff.

MoveOn.org, a George Soros’-funded group, helped organize the protests against Mr. Trump that turned violent — and then took credit for shutting down the event.

These are people who get excited to get in your face.

And you never see it much on the Right.

There are conservatives who disagree venomously with the socialistic propaganda of Vermont Sen. Bernard Sanders, but they’re not showing up at his rallies looking to pick a fight.

They don’t appear at Hillary Clinton’s events on the stump – ridiculing her immigration policy, initiating chants of how she should be in jail, or the fact she’s corrupt.

What’s ironic is Mr. Sanders’ and Mrs. Clinton’s events have only been disrupted by their own constituencies, like Black Lives Matter, and then you see them kowtowing to them.

Mr. Sanders’ had to abandon his own stage, and former President Bill Clinton, was almost forced to apologize for defending himself against their accusations.

We live in a nation of rule and order. It’s about time the Left understood that and stopped indulging these radical constituencies.
