TRINITY, N.C. (AP) - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in which they say a deputy was shot by his father.
Media outlets report that dispatchers received a call reporting the shooting Saturday night. Responders arrived to find deputy Tyler Cook with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Randolph County Sheriff Robert Graves says deputy Cook’s father, Gary Cook, shot his son during an argument at their house. Graves didn’t give further details on a motive.
Deputy Cook is in stable condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Detectives have questioned Gary Cook, but he has not been arrested. Graves says he plans to meet with the District Attorney and Deputy Cook to go over possible charges and outcomes.
