CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - State schools Superintendent Jillian Balow says Wyoming has dropped out of the state consortium that is involved with Common Core education tests.
Balow says Wyoming has been an affiliate member with the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.
In a news release, she says the state is dropping out of the group because it is seeking a new statewide assessment vendor and doesn’t want to have the perception of a conflict.
Balow says any real or perceived conflict would detract from securing the most appropriate assessment for Wyoming students.
Contracts with Wyoming’s current vendors for statewide assessments in grades 3-10 expire Jan. 1, 2018. The state will be asking test vendors to submit proposals this fall.
