West Des MOINES, Iowa (AP) - An official says a man and his adult son were injured when their small plane crashed south of West Des Moines.

West Des Moines EMS spokesman Dave Edgar says that the 65-year-old pilot suffered serious injuries and his 30-year-old son suffered moderate injuries when their small plane crashed around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Both have been transported to a hospital for treatment.

Edgar says that one of the men said that there was some issue with the plane’s power, and that they attempted to land the plane before crashing into a hill.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.
