PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The state Department of Environmental Management has announced that some of Rhode Island’s most popular beaches will be open in advance of summer.
WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/23Zv29j ) Scarborough North and Roger Wheeler state beaches in Narraganset, Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly and beaches at Lincoln Woods and Goddard Memorial State Park will be open for this weekend.
DEM director Janet Coit says the opening of beach season is always special and she encourages everyone to head to one this weekend.
Beachgoers will notice upgrades in varying degrees of completion at four facilities this summer - Scarborough North, Roger Wheeler beach, George Washington Memorial Campground and Lincoln Woods.
All state beaches will be open daily beginning on May 28.
