MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Horry County Coroner Robert Edge says body of a man has been pulled from the surf near Myrtle Beach. But it wasn’t immediately clear if the body was that of a swimmer reported missing earlier this week.
Local media outlets report that rescue crews were called about 4:30 a.m. Friday and the body of a man between 25 and 35 years old was recovered.
Edge says an autopsy is scheduled for later Friday.
Crews had been searching since Tuesday evening when there was a report of a swimmer who went under after struggling in the surf.
A Coast Guard helicopter and personnel from the fire department and other agencies had searched for the missing swimmer.
