MACON, Ga. (AP) - A man has been found dead in a Macon hotel room under what authorities are calling suspicious circumstances.

Macon-Bibb Count Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley tells the Macon Telegraph (https://bit.ly/22i0Fvv) that the body of 46-year-old Charles Edward Meyers III was found Thursday morning in bed by hotel staff at Quality Inn & Suites in Macon.

Miley says Meyers stayed at the hotel when working as a registered nurse at Navicent Health in Macon. He checked into the room eight or nine days ago, but hadn’t paid the hotel in a couple days, prompting staff to visit his room.

Miley says the death is suspicious because of Meyers’ age, and the fact that he was found in the room with no outstanding apparent medical history.

An autopsy will be performed Friday.
