BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Burleigh County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a freak accident involving a flying mattress.
Authorities say Deputy Justin Hoag was driving on Bismarck’s Main Avenue Wednesday evening when a mattress on a trailer being towed by a passing pickup truck came loose and flew into the air.
The mattress shattered the windshield of Hoag’s sport utility vehicle and he was showered with broken glass.
Sheriff’s Maj. Kelly Leben tells The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/1XEfpoc ) that Hoag was treated at a hospital and is doing well.
The pickup driver was cited for carrying an unsecured load.
