LEICESTER, England (AP) - The man who masterminded the astute recruitment policy behind Leicester’s unlikely English Premier League title triumph has signed a new deal with the club.

Steve Walsh, Leicester’s head of recruitment, has unearthed unheralded players like Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, and N’Golo Kante since joining the team’s backroom staff in November 2011. They were among the key players in Leicester’s improbable title victory this season.

Walsh, and assistant manager Craig Shakespeare, signed new deals on Friday reportedly through 2018.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri says, “When I arrived at Leicester, I could never have expected to find a group of staff so well-equipped to take a club forward. Craig and Steve have been very important to this.”
