NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has named a new general manager for its New Jersey airports.

Diane Papaianni, a 36-year Port Authority veteran, will assume the role of general manager of Newark Liberty and Teterboro airports. Among her tasks will be overseeing a $2.3 billion project to build a new Terminal A at Newark.

Papaianni recently served as deputy general manager for Newark Liberty Airport. She also has supervised the airport’s AirTrain operations, managed Terminal B’s international facility and served as manager of airport operations.

She succeeds Richard Heslin, who is retiring after 45 years with the agency.
