OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - The mayor of Ocean Springs says she doesn’t foresee the possibility of installing parking meters in the downtown area to solve the issue of public parking.

Mayor Connie Moran told The Mississippi Press (https://bit.ly/1sG0sGz ) on Tuesday that while she has had discussions with business owners about the possibility, she believes other ideas are needed.

Parking has again become a concern following the opening of a new downtown bar and restaurant that is bringing more people to the area, making parking more difficult.

Moran says the key to solving the issue is striking a balance between parking for downtown employees and parking for customers.

Other ideas such as a city-owned tram or a parking garage have been suggested in the past. Moran says the city is willing to consider any suggestion.
