EASTPOINTE, Mich. (AP) - Officials say a 69-year-old Catholic priest who left two Detroit-area parishes in 2009 after a sexual misconduct allegation has resigned from a post at a center for pregnant teens.
The Rev. Kenneth Kaucheck was cofounder, development director and a board member of Gianna House in the Detroit suburb of Eastpointe. The Detroit Free Press reports (https://on.freep.com/22i4tge ) the Archdiocese of Detroit says Thursday he’s resigned.
The Associated Press left a message Friday for Kaucheck.
Police said the misconduct case involved an allegation of a sexual relationship in 1976 with a girl who was 16 and of legal consent. At the time, Kaucheck was a priest at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Clawson. No charges were brought after a 2009 review.
The Macomb Daily last month reported about Kaucheck’s Gianna House involvement.
