CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors say the police shooting of a driver who tried to run over two officers in Camden was justified.

Camden County prosecutors say Edgar Carrasquillo drove his car into a bicyclist and a pedestrian in August 2014, then tried to hit two officers who pulled him over, hitting a police vehicle in the process.

Both officers pulled their weapons. Authorities say one officer fired off nine rounds.

Prosecutors determined the officer acted in self-defense and within the state’s use of force guidelines.

The officers weren’t identified.

Carrasquillo faces charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault. His case is pending trial. It’s not known if he has a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
