CANNON BEACH, Ore. (AP) - A Cannon Beach firefighter rescued a large seagull that got tangled on a kite string.

Interim fire chief Jim Stearns tells The Daily Astorian (https://is.gd/QjoK2W ) it was a passer-by who noticed the bird hanging from the string and called for the rescue.

The fire truck had a ladder tall enough to reach the seagull and firefighter Mike Johnson clipped the string, freeing the bird.

The seagull is recovering well at the Wildlife Center of the North Coast in Astoria.
