BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - A two-mile stretch of eastbound Interstate 10 is closed on the western fringe of the Phoenix area at the beginning of the Friday morning commute because of a serious accident.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the closure is at State Route 85.

ADOT says traffic heading to the Phoenix area can take State Route 85 and then Broadway and Miller roads to return to eastbound I-10.

Eastbound I-10 traffic headed past Phoenix can use State Route 85 to reach Interstate 8 to return to I-10 near Casa Grande.

ADOT says there’s no estimate on when the closed stretch of I-10 will reopen. Westbound I-10 remains open.

Details on the accident are not immediately available.
