BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say strong storms with heavy rains are possible across much of Alabama.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms with winds up to 60 mph could impact the Gulf Coast all the way north to the Tennessee Valley on Friday.

The weather delayed the opening of the annual Hangout musical festival in Gulf Shores, but organizers expected the shows to begin later.

Storms could also be a problem for the second round of the Regions Tradition Champions Tour golf tournament in suburban Birmingham. Heavy rains and hail are possible across central Alabama.

Storms are supposed to pass through by nightfall, and mostly clear skies are forecast for Saturday.
