GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - An English teacher at a high school in Greenville has been accused of having sex with a student.

Greenville County sheriff’s deputies told local media that 38-year-old Erickson Lamar Bynum of Simpsonville is accused of sex with a student and with the attempted sexual assault of two other students.

The Southside High School teacher is charged with sexual battery with a student and two counts of second-degree assault and battery.

It was not clear if Bynum has an attorney.

Bynum was placed on leave May 3 after allegations of improper contact with a student.

Deputies say Bynum had sex with a student in his classroom a number of times since August. An arrest warrant says there was no force or coercion.

Deputies say the two attempted assaults happened off-campus.
