NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say they’ve arrested a 19-year-old man who is accused of fatally shooting another teen inside a public housing apartment building in the Bronx.
Steafon Lewis was arrested Friday on manslaughter and weapons possession charges in connection with the Thursday evening shooting. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
Police said 17-year-old Ackeem Davis was shot inside the building where he lived on Astor Avenue. They said the teen died after being rushed to a local hospital.
Lewis’ grandmother, Villittha Lewis, told WNBC-TV (https://bit.ly/27JQ9kG ) the two teens were friends. She said he told her he was “playing” with the gun and thought it wasn’t loaded.
