RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Tidewater Community College has been named as a school that excels in cybersecurity training.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Thursday the college had received special designation from the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

McAuliffe has been a vocal proponent of focusing state resources on cybersecurity-related education and training.

Northern Virginia Community College and Lord Fairfax Community College have received similar designations.
