RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Press Association is getting a new executive director.

The group says it has hired Betsy Edwards of Goochland to replace its current Executive Director Ginger Stanley.

Stanley is retiring on June 30. Edwards will assume the role on July 1.

The association says Edwards served most recently as director of communications for ChildFund International. She has also worked for Preservation Virginia and American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia and was a marketing and public relations editor and writer for McGuire Woods LLP.

The Virginia Press Association represents daily newspapers and other media outlets to lobby lawmakers at the Statehouse, among other things. The Associated Press is an associate member.
