GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says weekend storm damage in parts of the Grand Forks area was caused by a microburst.

A microburst is a sudden, strong downdraft of air. The weather service says the microburst that hit eastern Grand Forks and parts of neighboring East Grand Forks, Minnesota, late Sunday had estimated wind speeds up to 110 mph.

Police say there was damage to trees, power lines, homes and vehicles. Some residents lost power for a time.

No injuries were reported.
