PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Hazardous material crews spent the morning cleaning up an ammonia leak in Portland.

WCSH-TV (https://on.wcsh6.com/1sz9W5O ) reports the leak occurred at AdvancePierre Foods inside a cold storage area on Tuesday morning. The company manufactures meat products.

Portland fire officials say no one was in the building at the time of the leak and no illnesses were reported.

Ammonia can be dangerous to humans in high concentrations and can become flammable at extreme levels. Officials say AdvancePierre will remain closed on Tuesday and is likely to reopen on Wednesday.
