CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming’s unemployment rate increased to 5.5 percent in April as the state continues to lose energy-related jobs.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the rate is up from the 5.2 percent recorded in March and considerably higher than the 4.1 percent in April 2015.
In April, Campbell County posted the state’s highest unemployment rate at 7.9 percent, followed by Natrona at 7.5 percent. The struggling energy extraction industry is big in both counties.
Other counties with more than 7 percent unemployment include Fremont at 7.4 percent and Sublette at 7.2 percent.
The counties with the lowest unemployment rates were Albany at 3.0 percent, followed by Niobrara at 3.1 percent and Goshen at 3.6 percent.
