OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the life prison sentence of a 26-year-old Tulsa man convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman.
The court on Tuesday upheld a Tulsa County jury’s conviction of Ronnie Burnett Jones. Jones was convicted in the shooting death of Shametra Fields and was also convicted of shooting with intent to kill in connection with injuries suffered by two other people.
Authorities allege Jones went on a shooting rampage at a south Tulsa apartment complex on Sept. 10, 2012. Fields was shot three times, including once in the back of the head while the other victims were shot at close range but survived.
Defense attorney Traci Quick didn’t immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
