RED LION, Pa. (AP) - The unofficial start to summer might be approaching but it looked like a winter wonderland in a few central Pennsylvania towns after an intense hailstorm.
Monday afternoon’s storm brought nickel-sized hail to areas like Red Lion and Windsor, blanketing streets, sidewalks and decks.
Wrightsville Mayor Neil Habecker tells the York Daily Record (https://bit.ly/1WM7BRE ) the hail piled into drifts about 3- to 4-inches deep.
The force of the five-minute dumping ripped leaves off trees and damaged awnings.
There won’t be a white Memorial Day, however: temperatures were heading back to the 70s on Tuesday.
