GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a driver hit an 83-year-old pedestrian at Grand Junction Regional Airport and fled the scene, leaving the man with a broken leg and bleeding heavily from his head.
The Daily Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1Ro3oM9 ) that police have arrested a 32-year-old Grand Junction man they say was under the influence of alcohol for the Sunday night hit-and-run. Officers say his driver’s license had been revoked for a previous DUI conviction.
St. Mary’s Hospital spokesman Eric Mello said the pedestrian, John Austin, was in fair condition Monday evening.
Police say they found the driver parked on the side of a road and apparently passed out. He told police a man jumped out in front of his car at the airport and caused the accident.
