SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is urging his network of donors to contribute to a candidate for the California state Senate.

San Francisco County Supervisor Jane Kim is among eight legislative candidates nationwide that received a nod from Sanders on Tuesday.

Kim is a Democrat running for a seat being vacated by term-limited Democratic Sen. Mark Leno. Kim is seen as the more liberal candidate in a race against fellow San Francisco Supervisor Scott Wiener.

Wiener has support from much of the Democratic establishment, including Leno, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Sanders has built an online fundraising juggernaut in his run against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but he’s rarely urged his supporters to send money to other candidates.

This article has been corrected to show Sanders is backing Jane Kim, not Jane Park.
