HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The Hattiesburg Public School District Board of Trustees has wrapped up interviews of 10 applicants for the job of district superintendent. Members said Monday they plan to call back an as yet unspecified number for second interviews.

The Hattiesburg American reports (https://hatne.ws/1U7AXDE ) the interviews of the candidates began Thursday and continued over the weekend. They were held in executive session and were not open to the public because they dealt with a personnel matter.

Interim Superintendent Greg Ladner’s term is up June 30. Board President Marcus Cathey said it’s hoped a new person can be in position by July 1. Cathey has not yet said when the second round of interviews will take place.

The board is looking for someone to replace James Bacchus, who resigned in December.
