JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - One of three companies is preparing to leave the federally run health insurance exchange in Mississippi.
Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney says Wednesday that UnitedHealthcare will stop offering coverage in the subsidized marketplace on Jan. 1.
That leaves two companies to sell policies - Humana Insurance Company and Ambetter of Magnolia Inc.
Chaney says in a news release that Humana is in 40 counties now but will reduce its presence to 24 counties starting in January.
He says 18,206 people are covered by UnitedHealthcare policies, and they will need to seek other coverage.
