MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Libertarian candidate for governor of Vermont in 2014 says he’s going to be running for state auditor this year as a Republican.

The Vermont Republican Party announced the candidacy of Dan Feliciano on Tuesday.

Feliciano says he’s looking forward to debating the current role of the auditor and its future role.

Incumbent Doug Hoffer, a Progressive and Democrat, says he is “most definitely” running for re-election as auditor. He was unopposed in the 2014 election.

Vermont Republican Party Chairman Dave Sunderland says party members are excited to work with Feliciano. He’s expected to launch his campaign within the next few weeks.
