ATLANTA (AP) - A federal jury in Atlanta has convicted a Bosnian man of fraudulently obtaining his U.S. citizenship because he failed to disclose he was a guard at a concentration camp during the Bosnian War.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://bit.ly/1RrolFO ) that Mladen Mitrovic was found guilty Wednesday of giving false answers on his naturalization application form. Mitrovic said on that application in 2002 that he hadn’t ever persecuted anyone because of race, religion or national origin.

But federal prosecutors said Mitrovic led prisoners into a makeshift torture chamber and helped beat them.

Mitrovic is to be sentenced Aug. 25. He faces up to 10 years in prison and deportation after he serves his sentence. U.S. District Judge Amy Totenberg allowed him to remain free on bond until his sentencing.
