Boy’s decomposed body found in Detroit apartment

DETROIT (AP) - The body of a young boy has been found in a Detroit apartment.

Police say the boy, age 2 to 3, may have been dead for more than a week. Investigators are looking for his mother, who was taken to a hospital last week but eventually released.

First Assistant Chief Lashinda Stair says a maintenance worker noticed a strong odor Wednesday and discovered the body. A neighbor, April Fowler, says she had wondered if the mother had moved.

Fowler says she didn’t hear any cries from the apartment.
