DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit City Council has honored three friends who are considered godfathers of techno music.

The Detroit News (https://detne.ws/1WRLv0E ) reports Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson were honored by the City Council on Tuesday. The three were classmates at Belleville High School and have been coined “The Belleville Three.”

They were presented Spirit of Detroit Awards. Other techno music producers, DJs and innovators were honored by the council.
