RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginians who couldn’t get their driver’s license renewed because of a weekend computer disruption are getting more time.

A switch failure affected access to a computer center serving almost every executive branch agency, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, on Saturday. Service was restored after few hours.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe this week signed an executive order directing the DMV to extend by one week the validity of licenses that expired Saturday or Sunday. Those licenses are now good until May 28.
