CENTRE HALL, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania couple whose home was rocked by an explosion a week ago has been indicted on federal charges that they dealt in commercial grade fireworks - and tried to make them more powerful - without proper licensing.
The Centre Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1TDF4ug ) reports 50-year-old James Woodring and 34-year-old Christina Woodring were indicted Tuesday.
Christina’s Woodring’s public defender couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Wednesday, but her husband’s attorney, Jay Abom, says his client is cooperating with authorities and is not charged with a crime of violence.
The attorney says the “so-called explosives were for entertainment purposes only” and weren’t being made or used to injure anyone or purposely damage anybody’s property.
The couple’s trial is scheduled for July before a federal judge in Williamsport.
