GEDDES, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo is heading to central New York to make an announcement at State Fair, where a $50 million renovation project is underway.
The governor was at the fairgrounds in early January to help push the plunger on the controlled explosions that brought down the 40-year-old grandstand. The music venue was demolished as part of the project that’s enlarging the midway and an RV camping area, along with other renovations.
The work is expected to be completed next month.
State Fair concerts are being moved to the nearby Lakeview Amphitheater on Onondaga Lake.
Cuomo is scheduled to make an announcement early Wednesday afternoon at the fairgrounds in Geddes, outside Syracuse.
The 2016 State Fair opens Aug. 25 and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 5.
