JAMESTOWN, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island police officer killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 will be laid to rest this weekend.

Jamestown Patrolman Ryan Bourque was killed early Monday on I-95 South in East Greenwich on the one-year anniversary of his graduation from the police academy.

Police say the 24-year-old patrolman was heading home to Coventry after finishing up his 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift when his car was hit head-on by another vehicle being driven the wrong way. The driver, 23-year-old Dejae Pizarro of Bedford, Massachusetts, was also killed.

The wake will take place on Friday at the Iannotti Funeral Home in Coventry.

Bourque’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Coventry. The Mass is open to the public.
